Brooks Glycerin 16 Review

September 3, 2020 by Leornard

Brooks Glycerin 16 Review

The Brooks Glycerin 16 is a running shoe manufactured and released by Brooks Company. Brooks has been making superb running shoes for decades now and the Glycerin 16 is just one of their many amazing running shoes. Described as the Cadillac of running shoes, Brooks Glycerin 16 is simply made with one aspect in mind – comfort. It is also important to note that the Glycerin 16 is the sixteenth version of the Glycerin series. It is also the latest release in the series released by Brooks.

Over time, the shoe has continued receiving more and more new features and improvements. The Glycerin 16 boasts a new unique design that has not been used before and offers a softer ride all through the run. Its weight has also been reduced to make the shoe as light as possible and help the runner run faster. The midsole and outsole have also been greatly improved to deliver a nice spring as you run and provide heel support. This has been done by the use of lighter synthetic materials without affecting the durability and responsiveness of the Brooks 16.

The following is what to expect from the Glycerin 16.

What to expect from the Brooks Glycerin 16

The Brooks Glycerin 16 has a men’s version and a women’s version. It comes in a variety of colors such as blue, black, white and pink. It has a great stylish design that makes it versatile enough to be worn with anything. It can also be worn when running errands, doing shopping and more activities. In short, it can be used as a regular. This has been made possible by the stylish upper body made from mesh perforations, the stunning colors and the insole that provides some of the best foot cushioning you have ever experienced. A lot of improvements can be seen from previous models such as the Glycerin 15. The midsole has especially received a boost with the use of new technology called SuperDNA full length midsole. This has made the shoe much more comfortable and provided a nice spring to the runner while running.

When you buy the Brooks Glycerin 16, there is no doubt that you will love the general look of the shoe. A lot of thought has been put into the simple stylish design to make you fall in love with it immediately.

Key Features

The Brooks Glycerin 16 is one of the most comfortable running shoes in the market today. In fact it is so comfortable that it has been dubbed the Cadillac of running shoes. To achieve this huge fete, there are lots of great features that the shoe has. Some of them include breathable mesh upper body, thick and soft removable insole, improved midsole and outsole, tough outsole and more. In the following section, we are going to look into these features.

Thick Removable Insole

The insole of the Glycerin 16 is thick and soft to provide soft padding for the foot. It keeps the foot comfortable and protects it from shock and landing impacts. The insole is also removable to make it easy to wash and fasten the drying process after washing.

The upper body is made from jacquard mesh perforated material

Brooks Glycerin 16 Review

As seen with other Brooks running shoes, the Glycerin 16 has an upper body made from a jacquard mesh material. This is done to provide breathability inside the shoe as you jog and keep the feet cool and fresh for longer. This mesh material also plays a huge role in the sizing of the shoe. The reason for this is that the mesh material is stretchable and can adjust according to the movements of the shoe. This is great for your feet as they can stretch inside the shoe and prevent sprains and injuries.

The improved midsole uses DNA Loft technology

DNA Loft design is a technology created by Brooks to provide a springing effect to the runner. It is a cushion located in the midsole filled with the special foam known as DNA loft. This is an improvement from the previous DNA foam technology used in previous versions of the shoe. The difference between the two design systems is that the DNA loft uses a mix of the special foam, air and rubber to make the midsole whereas the other only used the foam. DNA Loft provides a great cushioning for the foot and ultimately increases comfort.

It has a tough durable outsole

The outsole of the Brooks Glycerin 16 is made up of two special materials: HPR Plus which is placed on the heel to protect it from abrasion and blown rubber which is used on the forefoot and adds cushioning, traction and flexibility. Both these materials are tough and durable ensuring that your shoe lasts long. They also provide a great grip and prevent slipping even when running on wet ground.

Comfortable lining inside the shoe

Brooks Glycerin 16 has a textile lining inside the shoe that keeps the feet in position and greatly improves comfort.

Pros

  • The insole is thick and soft for extreme comfort
  • It uses durable construction especially on the outsole
  • It features a hard material at the front of the shoe that acts as toe protection
  • Very comfortable shoe in general
  • Dries fast after washing due to the light mesh upper body.

Cons

  • It has a small size fitting

Final Verdict

Brooks Glycerin 16 is a great general shoe and an even better running shoe. If you’re looking to replace your old jogging shoes, then this would be a great replacement for your old shoes. Brooks 16 is available on most online shops including Amazon at an affordable price.

Leornard

Hi, my name is Leornard! My love for sports started way back when I was in middle school. I participated in track field and tennis. Some of my greatest and proudest accomplishments during that time were playing against other schools in the state. When I college, I took up tennis as a fun sport or exercise due to my limited time but I still had passion in the sports. Now, I keep up with tennis as a hobby and for my health but my passion for the sports still run deep. I am interested in the highs and lows of tennis and that is why TennisWearguide exists.
